With a spectacular seaside setting and ever-present breeze, its long fairways and 6,546 meters from black trees, it has all the requirements of a championship course. Its layout is a natural, almost rugged look despite the immaculate all Bermuda turfing. Borneo Golf has extra large bunkering for aesthetic effect, making each hole appear unique with some lying inland and others bordering a natural lagoon. The greens are receptive enough but can be treacherously fast during dry spells.

In the year 2003, Borneo Golf & Country Club was voted as the No. 4 Best Golf Course in Malaysia by Asian Golf Monthly Magazine whereas Golf Malaysia Magazine readers voted this Club as the No. 2 Best Golf Course in Borneo.
